The real purpose of a protest against cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed was to encourage terrorism, a court has heard.
Alleged protest organiser Abdul Muhid urged people to commit "terrorist killing", the Old Bailey was told.
The court heard Mr Muhid led the crowd chanting "bomb, bomb the UK" and produced placards with slogans.
Mr Muhid, 24, of Stoke Newington, north London, denies two counts of soliciting to murder at the demonstration in central London on 3 February last year.
The protest involved hundreds of people who marched from Regent's Park mosque to the Danish embassy in Knightsbridge.
It was one of many demonstrations across Europe and the Middle East against cartoons of Mohammed, which were first published in Denmark.
'Terror references'
The court heard that at the London protest the slogans included "annihilate those who insult Islam", "fantastic four are on their way" and "3/11 is on its way".
The latter two referred to terrorist attacks in London and Madrid, the jury heard.
David Perry QC, prosecuting, said: "The drawings of mohammed had not appeared in any UK newspaper.
"This was supposed to be a demonstration against the publication of the drawings in the newspapers abroad.
"This behaviour shows what the demonstration was really about. It was an exhortation, an encouragement to terrorism."
'Flag burned'
Mr Perry added that the slogans were designed to "intimidate and frighten and also encourage terrorist killing".
"That is what the prosecution case is, that this defendant was in fact exhorting people to terrorist killing," he said.
The jury was told that Mr Muhid took part in the burning of a Danish flag which had been soaked in an accelerant.
There were no arrests during the protest, but instead police took video recordings to decide on evidence of any criminal offences.
Video footage seized from the mosque showed Mr Muhid carrying placards into the building courtyard, Mr Perry said.
He was also seen wearing a jacket with the slogan "soldier of Allah".
The trial was adjourned until Wednesday.

Father 'clubbed family to death'
A cab driver allegedly clubbed his wife and three children to death with a rounders bat because he thought she was having an affair, a court has heard.Rahan Arshad, 36, then fled to Thailand - leaving the bodies undiscovered at the family home in Turves Road, Cheadle Hulme, Manchester - for almost a month.
Paul Reid QC, prosecuting, told the jury the evidence they would hear would be distressing.
Mr Arshad denies four counts of murder at Manchester Crown Court.
The jury heard when Mr Arshad was arrested, he said: "I confess to the murder. My beautiful kids, I don't regret killing that bitch, but my kids, killing my kids..."
The court was told he killed his wife Uzma Rahan, 32, sons Adam, 11, and Abbas, eight, and daughter Henna, six, in July.
Mr Reid told the jury the couple had an arranged marriage in 1992 but their relationship hit the rocks from before Easter 2003 because Mr Arshad believed his wife was having an affair.
He said: "Despite Uzma's denials to many about the affair, including her family and friends, the affair was an open secret and lasted until about April 2006."
Mr Reid claimed that in the months before her murder, Mr Arshad admitted threatening to kill his wife and children.
He told the jury that on 27 July Mr Arshad, whom he described as "jealous and possessive" bought an 18-inch (45cm) rounders bat.
Blood samples
DNA traces from all the family members were recovered from the bat and blood samples were found on the trainers Mr Arshad was wearing when he was arrested, the court heard.
The jury was told that Mr Arshad left his car in the short stay car park at Heathrow before boarding a flight to Bangkok.
Although Mr Arshad had booked a return flight on 18 August, he failed to board the aeroplane.
He was stopped on 30 August at the Thailand-Malaysia border.
In a defence statement to prosecutors, Mr Arshad claimed he had returned home to find his children dead and that he had bludgeoned his wife to death with the rounders bat because he believed she had murdered them.

£20m to ask muslims to like us.
The British Council, which promotes British culture and education overseas, is cutting its budget for Europe to shift its focus to Muslim countries.
The Council says it plans to close offices, libraries and information centres on the continent.
It will then spend up to £20m on a three-year programme to strengthen links with the Islamic world.
The Council's director general designate said the move was vital to bridge a "widening gap of trust".
Martin Davidson insisted it was time to tackle the "new challenges the world faces" by forging new relationships with the Middle East and Asia.
It is essential that we step up our investment to build trust and understanding between these countries and the UK Martin Davidson, director general designate of the British Council
Overall, funding for European countries will be slashed by 30% over the next two years.
Instead, money will be devoted to spreading British values in Islamic countries and in particular to fund projects that steer young Muslims away from extremism.
Mr Davidson said: "We can achieve more impact for less money by changing the way we work.
"This unlocks funds to invest in areas of the world such as the Middle East where cultural relations can make a major contribution to the UK's long term security and prosperity.
"It is essential that we step up our investment to build trust and understanding between these countries and the UK."
Iraq and Afghanistan are two of the 50 countries that will receive a 50% increase in funding.
'Britishness'
One flagship project called Reconnect will work with madrassas - religious schools - in countries like Pakistan to try to combat radicalisation.
Some initiatives will be run in Europe too, for example, a multi-lateral scheme to strengthen European identity among European Muslims.
The Council was founded in 1934 after the government became concerned about the need to promote "Britishness" abroad.
It receives an annual grant of £186m from the Foreign Office and earns a further £300m from paid-for English language classes and examinations.
Currently, the council operates in 109 countries and territories across the globe, but this move will see it reduce its public presence in Europe from 19 countries to nine.
Offices have already shut in Bulgaria, Germany, Slovakia and Belgium, and more are expected to follow later this year in Finland, Hungary, Slovenia, Austria and all three Baltic states.
Science, arts and education events will also be cut back and almost all information centres will close.
Partnerships
Orchestra tours, like that by the London Sinfonietta to the Baltic States last year, will no longer be funded, but logistical support will still be given to travelling artists.
Self-financing language schools and other projects like the Erasmus university exchange programme will also continue.
More and more, Mr Davidson said, the Council would work in partnership with other European nations, rather than on its own.
"We share a common set of values with our European partners and by working with them we can have greater impact within Europe and beyond," he added.

Cleric loses deportation appeal
Radical Islamic cleric Abu Qatada has lost his appeal against a Home Office move to deport him to Jordan.
The home secretary welcomed the ruling, seen as the first test of a policy that seeks assurances deportees in terror cases will not be abused on return.
The alleged al-Qaeda figure's lawyers said he could face torture at home but the UK said he was a security threat.
Qatada, who has been convicted in Jordan for terror attacks, is to seek leave to appeal the deportation ruling.
Human rights lawyer Gareth Peirce said it was a "profoundly important appeal" that could have ramifications across the world.
Qatada, 45, has spent most of the past five years in prison in the UK under anti-terrorism and immigration laws.
'Right balance'
The judgment by Special Immigration Appeals Commission (Siac) chairman Mr Justice Ouseley said members had concluded there was "no real risk of persecution of [Qatada]" on his return.
The case is significant because the government has been trying to secure deportations to countries accused of torture by securing special agreements that deportees will not be abused.
The agreement - called Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) - signed between the UK government and Jordan in 2005, aimed to guarantee that anyone deported to the country would not face torture or ill-treatment.
Critics claim the MOU is meaningless, with director of civil rights group Liberty, Shami Chakrabarti, saying "paper promises" were not enough.
"Dodgy little 'assurances' from regimes that practise torture convince few outside government," she said.
But a lawyer for the home secretary, Ian Burnett QC, had said it would be "extraordinary" if Jordan did not comply with its diplomatic assurances.
Mr Reid said the government was "pleased" the court had recognised the value of MOUs.
"It is our firm belief that these agreements strike the right balance between allowing us to deport individuals who threaten the security of this country and safeguarding the rights of these individuals on their return."
Spiritual advisor
Qatada's legal team claimed in Siac hearings last May that part of the government's case against him was based on evidence extracted by torture.
But on Monday the Siac members dismissed the case put by Qatada, also known as Omar Mahmoud Mohammed Othman.
Siac accepted Qatada had "long-established connections with Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda" and that he "held sway over extremists".
"He has given advice to many terrorist groups and individuals, whether formerly a spiritual adviser to them or not. His reach and the depth of his influence in that respect is formidable, even incalculable." the judgment said.
Ms Peirce said the ruling would mean sending Qatada to a "flagrant denial of justice", with the prospect of trial by a military court using evidence obtained from torture.
"We say it would be so grotesquely unreconcilable with the concept of justice that it would constitute a complete denial of our responsibilities - to deport on that basis with that known prospect."
She added: "We understand that this decision is being monitored and watched by a number of other countries who are considering deporting individuals to regimes where they know they will be tortured."
Amnesty International UK campaigns director Tim Hancock said the group was "profoundly concerned" Siac had discounted evidence showing the risk of torture if Qatada was returned to Jordan.
This included material documenting the "routine infliction of torture on 'security suspects' in Jordan...a practice which continues with impunity".
Qatada became one of the UK's most wanted men in December 2001 when he went on the run on the eve of government moves to introduce new anti-terror laws.
The Palestinian-Jordanian has always publicly distanced himself from claims of links to al-Qaeda and insists he has never met its leader, Osama Bin Laden.

Britain's Huge Problem
A British intelligence document reveals that the terror threat in the UK is far worse than most people want to believe, with as many as 2,000 Islamic terrorists inside Britain actively plotting mass murder attacks:
The terrorist threat facing Britain from home-grown al-Qaeda agents is higher than at any time since the September 11 attacks in 2001, secret intelligence documents reveal.
The number of British-based Islamic terrorists plotting suicide attacks against "soft" targets in this country is far greater than the Security Services had previously believed, the government paperwork discloses. It is thought the plotters could number more than 2,000.
Under the heading "International Terrorism in the UK", the document - seen by The Sunday Telegraph - states: "The scale of al-Qaeda’s ambitions towards attacking the UK and the number of UK extremists prepared to participate in attacks are even greater than we had previously judged."
It warns that terrorist "attack planning" against Britain will increase in 2007, and adds: "We still believe that AQ [al-Qaeda] will continue to seek opportunities for mass casualty attacks against soft targets and key infrastructure. These attacks are likely to involve the use of suicide operatives."
The document, which has been circulated across Whitehall to MI5, Scotland Yard’s Counter Terrorist Command, the Home Office, the Cabinet Office and the Ministry of Defence, also reveals that al-Qaeda has grown into a world-wide organisation with a foothold in virtually every Muslim country in North Africa, the Middle East and central Asia.
Eliza Manningham-Buller, the director general of MI5, warned recently that there were more than 1,600 "identified individuals" actively engaged in plotting terrorist attacks. There were 200 known networks involved in at least 30 terrorist plots. It is thought that the number of British citizens involved in plots could be well in excess of 2,000.
MI5 believes that soft targets, such as the transport system and economic targets such as the City of London and Canary Wharf, are most at risk.
A senior political source said the picture painted by the document was "particularly bleak and unlikely to improve for several years".
British authorities are attempting to keep watch over thousands of terror suspects.

Controversial cleric is reinstated

A cleric filmed delivering a series of hate-filled sermons in a Birmingham mosque has been officially reinstated to his post.
Hardline preacher Abu Usamah At-Thahabi was secretly taped for months by undercover reporters posing as worshippers at Green Lane Mosque in Small Heath.
He was filmed by the Dispatches programme attacking Jews, Christians, women and calling for the murder of homosexuals and British democracy to be torn down and replaced with an Islamic state.
After the January 15 broadcast, Mr At-Thahabi said all his controversial comments had been taken out of context by the programme makers and that he had nothing to hide.
The Afro-American convert to Islam was suspended from preaching at the mosque while the mosque committee conducted an internal investigation.
Today, Tassadaq Hussain from Green Lane Mosque, said Mr At-Thahabi had been officially reinstated to his preaching activities following the conclusion of an internal investigation.
West Midlands Police are currently locked in a battle with programme makers over unedited tapes.

'Hindu girls targeted by extremists'
Muslim extremists who try to force teenage Hindu girls to convert to Islam are being targeted in a new police crackdown.
The recruiters – often paid £5,000 for each success – are stepping up 'aggressive conversion' tactics, especially around universities, religious leaders believe.
The Metropolitan Police have stepped in after commissioner Sir Ian Blair said many Hindus felt neglected by Scotland Yard.
Some young students have been beaten up and forced to abandon their courses by extremists, Hindu leaders told a security conference.
Islamic extremists invited the girls on dates before beginning campaigns of 'terrorism' until they converted, they claimed.
Ramesh Kallidai, from the Hindu Forum of Britain, said: 'Extremist Muslims make life miserable for Hindu girls.
'Some are petrified; they feel these men have complete hold on them.
One girl was beaten up in the street and others have been forced to leave university.'
The problem was most common in cities such as Birmingham, Leeds and Bradford, he added, while London universities had 'at least two or three cases' each.
Mr Kallidai estimated hundreds of girls had been targeted, with some reports of Muslim boys being offered £5,000 'commissions'.
The National Union of Students said it did not want to discriminate against Muslims but agreed some extremists were causing concern.
They have managed to infiltrate Brunel University in West London, Bedfordshire University, Sheffield Hallam University and Manchester Metropolitan University, according to a Muslim charity.
Sheikh Musa Admani, a 'troubleshooting' imam, fears many radicals are easily by-passing university bans on extremist sects such as Hizb ut Tahrirs and Al-Mujahiroun.
Scotland Yard is to set up a Hindu Safety Forum with 'aggressive conversion' as its top priority.
Sir Ian said: 'There is a feeling in the Hindu community that we have not given them as much attention as other groups.'

Father killed family for being too western
A father killed his wife and four daughters in their sleep because he could not bear them adopting a more westernised lifestyle, an inquest heard yesterday.
Mohammed Riaz, 49, found it abhorrent that his eldest daughter wanted to be a fashion designer, and that she and her sisters were likely to reject the Muslim tradition of arranged marriages.
On Hallowe'en last year he sprayed petrol throughout their terraced home in Accrington, Lancs, and set it alight.
Caneze Riaz, 39, woke and tried to protect her three-year-old child, Hannah, who was sleeping with her, but was overcome by fumes. Her other daughters, Sayrah, 16, Sophia, 13, and Alisha, 10, died elsewhere in the house.
Riaz, who had spent the evening drinking, set himself on fire and died two days later.
Relatives broke the news to the couple's son, Adam, 17, as he lay terminally ill with cancer at the Christie Hospital, Manchester. He died six weeks later.
Michael Singleton, the coroner, recorded verdicts that Riaz killed himself and that his victims were unlawfully killed.
Riaz, who had spent all but the last 17 years of his life in the North West Frontier region of Pakistan, met his Anglo-Pakistani wife when her father sent her to the sub-continent to find a husband.
After an arranged marriage, she developed a career as a community leader in Accrington while he, handicapped by a lack of English, took on a series of low-paid jobs.
After Mrs Riaz's father died she "suddenly felt less beholden to Mohammed", a friend said. "She started to develop her own circle of friends and allowed the girls to express themselves in a more western way."
She began to work with women who felt suppressed by Asian culture and many saw her as a role model for young Asian women.

Girl loses appeal over veil ban
A 12-year-old Muslim girl has lost a legal challenge to her school's ban on wearing the niqab full-face veil.
The niqab has sparked a national debate
Lawyers for the girl and her father had argued that the ban was "irrational" and a breach of her human rights.
But Mr Justice Silber rejected their plea for a judicial review.
The girl's lawyers said after the judgment that she and her family were "bitterly disappointed" and were considering an appeal.
The judge was told at a recent hearing that the girl's three elder sisters all attended the same school - two of them under the present headteacher - and all wore the niqab.
But when the girl - referred to only as X - began wearing the veil last September, the school objected on the grounds it would make communication and learning difficult.
The veil covers all of the face except the eyes.
About 120 of the school's 1,300-plus pupils are Muslims, and up to 60 of them wear the hijab headscarf, though no others are thought to be demanding the right to wear the niqab.
The girl is currently receiving tuition at home and has been offered a place at a different, mixed school which permits the niqab, but she wants to go back to her original school.
The girl's solicitor, Shah Qureshi, said after the ruling: "This is a case about religious tolerance and the freedom to practice your religion as long as it does not interfere with others.
"This freedom is enshrined within Article 9 of the European Convention on Human Rights. My client and her family are not the extremists that they have been portrayed as by some elements of the press.
"All she wants is to be able to practice her deeply held beliefs whilst getting on with her daily life. She is not impinging on the rights of others and has always been willing to meet with the school to reach a resolution."

Schools accused of failing Muslims
Islamic leaders have accused state schools of failing to accommodate the wishes of Muslim children.
The Muslim Council of Britain criticised state schools for not organising sex education, changing rooms and assemblies to suit the Islamic sensibilities.

They urged head teachers to build prayer rooms and individual changing cubicles and avoid scheduling exams during Ramadan, when many pupils are fasting.
The MCB said schools were not taking account of "legitimate and reasonable requests" from parents and pupils.
But the country's biggest heads' union warned that a long list of demands risked sparking a "backlash".
The MCB's calls followed a major Government review which said pupils should be taught core "British values" to promote good relations between communities.
The MCB said 96 per cent of Britain's 400,000 Muslim pupils were in state schools, although many are falling behind in class.
In a 72-page guidance document the MCB said: "Many schools in England, Scotland and Wales have responded positively to issues related to cultural diversity and to meeting the needs of Muslim pupils.
"However, others have not been receptive of legitimate and reasonable requests made by Muslim parents and pupils in relation to their faith-based aspirations and concerns.
"Many of these issues relate to aspects of schooling such as collective worship, communal changing, swimming, halal meals and sex education.
"It is essential that positive account is taken of the faith dimension of Muslim pupils in education and schooling.
"Unfortunately Muslim pupils are sometimes placed in situations where they feel pressured into acting contrary to their beliefs and conscience and also experience Islamophobic sentiments and comments within schools."
The MCB guidance included a list of areas which can cause problems for Muslim pupils, with the strongest concerns reserved for the issue of preserving children's modesty and dignity.
The document said: "In the vast majority of primary schools, when changing for PE, both boys and girls have no choice but to change in mixed group environments.
"Muslim children are likely to exhibit resistance to this sort of compromising and immodest exposure, but are often pressurised to conform to institutional norms which do not take account of their own or their parents' beliefs and values.
"Schools need to take account of, and be more responsive and sensitive to, the moral values of the children and communities they serve."
The MCB said schools could consider building "separate changing facilities that include individual changing cubicles".
And "naked communal showering" after PE lessons involves "profound indignity" for Muslim pupils, the guidance warned.
"Islam forbids nakedness in front of others or being among others who are naked. Muslim children should not be expected to participate in communal showering."
Sex education for Muslim pupils should include "Islamic moral perspectives" when covering issues such as sexual orientation and behaviour, the guidance said.
"Girlfriend/boyfriend as well as homosexual relationships are not acceptable practices according to Islamic teachings," the document said.
Sex education classes should be taught in single-sex groups, by a teacher of the same gender, and "the use of sexually explicit videos, pictures and objects" should be avoided.
The document also said that school uniform policies should allow girls to wear a head scarf and full-length loose skirt and that boys should be allowed to grow beards for religious reasons.
School caterers were urged to provide halal meals, storing and preparing halal food separately, and labelling it clearly in canteens.
The MCB said state schools with a majority of Muslim pupils should apply for exemption from the legal requirement for daily collective worship of a mainly Christian character.
Head teachers warned that meeting any list of "demands" would pose major practical difficulties for schools.
Mick Brookes, general secretary of the National Association of Head Teachers, said: "Schools are trying to create societies within their walls which are tolerant and celebratory.
"I just worry that if the list of demands - if it is a list of demands - is too much, that it will simply create a backlash.
MCB secretary general Muhammad Abdul Bari said: "Many of our schools have a cherished tradition of fostering an inclusive ethos which values and addresses the differences and needs of the communities they serve.
"We are convinced that with a reasonable degree of mutual understanding and goodwill, even more progress can be made.

Muslim Council of Britain Steps Up Islamization Effort
Muslim Council of Britain’s Shari’a Plan
"Of course these demands are not just unreasonable – they are downright impossible. And the Muslim Council of Britain must know that if they read even the occasional infidel's newspaper or have an ounce of sense in their bearded bonces.... But it's not really about getting what they want – it's about making a lot of noise and nuisance and promoting a sense of grievance among Muslims – to keep the anger and resentment simmering.

It was just pure violence

AN ATTACK in which a bus driver was punched, kicked and head-butted, has been described as "racially motivated" by police.
A gang of Asian thugs including a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old, dragged the white bus driver out of his cab and assaulted him in Greenford on Saturday, January 6.
Four people jumped on the unsuspecting 51-year-old as the Route 95 double decker bus stopped outside the Palm Tree Club in Greenford Road at 8.40pm.
One of the attackers started to speak to the driver and, as the victim opened the door to hear what was being said, the rest of the gang jumped on him and dragged him outside where he was viciously assaulted and racially abused.
The driver suffered a black eye, cuts and bruises, a bloodied nose, ligament damage to his left knee and had damage to his left ear from being repeatedly headbutted.
He is still on medication.
One police source told the Ealing Times: "They have given him an awful pasting.
"It is just phenomenal for these individuals to show such racially-motivated violence in attacking this 51-year-old - it was just pure violence."
While attacking the driver the teenagers allegedly hurled racial abuse.
Witnesses said there was a larger group of "boisterous" teenagers on the bus, but police said they had no way of telling if the two groups were connected.
Our source said: "We have a number of issues with violence on buses. It is a growing problem. That is why we are having a meeting with bus companies and drivers on Thursday."
"There is an awful lot of work being done, especially with plain-clothed officers, and TfL are also involved.
"It is very rare to have this sort of thing on our borough."
Shortly after the attack, police officers on routine patrol stopped two people in Ravenor Park, Greenford, who fitted the description of some of the suspects allegedly involved in the assault.
A 14-year-old Asian boy from Woodhouse Avenue, Perivale, and a 15-year-old Asian boy from Clarendon Road, Ealing, were arrested on suspicion of Actual Bodily Harm and were bailed to return to Southall Police Station on February 16 pending further enquiries.
Police are still hunting one of the suspected gang members, a teenager aged 16 to 18, wearing a red and black raincoat with a hood.
Anyone with information should contact Ealing Borough Police on 020 8810 1212 quoting Crime Reference 2500681/07 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Jury sees 21 July 'burka escape'
CCTV images of one of the 21 July bomb suspects apparently fleeing London in a Muslim veil have been shown in court. The jury at Woolwich Crown Court saw footage prosecutors say is Yassin Omar, 26, wearing a black full-length dress and burka with a handbag over his arm.
He is said to have travelled by bus to Birmingham from Golders Green in north London on 22 July 2005 - the day after an alleged attempt to bomb the Tube. CCTV footage
Mr Omar and six other defendants deny charges of conspiracy to murder.
The footage shows Mr Omar mingling with ordinary commuters at Digbeth coach station in Birmingham on his arrival.
The prosecution said he waited at the site before being picked up by a car.
The jury has also heard he was captured on CCTV wearing the burka at Golders Green coach station earlier in the day.
Mr Omar, Hussein Osman, Ramzi Mohammed, Adel Yahya, Muktar Ibrahim and Manfo Asiedu deny conspiracy to cause explosions and conspiracy to murder.
Conversation disputed
Mr Omar's arrest at a house in Heybarnes Road in Birmingham came six days after the alleged extremist Muslim plot to commit suicide bombings.
The court heard Mr Omar - who allegedly tried to detonate a bomb on a train at Warren Street station - later admitted to police he was on the Tube at the time.
He told them he had not intended to hurt anyone on 21 July.
The prosecution had earlier claimed that Mr Omar's one-bedroom flat in New Southgate, north London, was where the home-made devices were manufactured.
Detective Constable Dave Hillier, who accompanied Mr Omar back to London for questioning, told the court he had said: "I was on the Tube at the time of the explosions. I did not know it was going to go off...
"I did not make the explosives. I was told to collect it."
In cross examination, defence counsel Mr Peter Carter QC suggested DC Hillier had wrongly attributed certain comments to Mr Omar.
According to Mr Carter, the defendant had said: "I knew it was going to go off and I didn't want to hurt anyone."
But DC Hillier stood by his notes.

UK: Supermosque for 70,000 'will be blocked'
Anti-dhimmitude in the UK. Note the Tablighi Jamaat involvement. "Supermosque for 70,000 'will be blocked,'" by Ben Leapman and Jonathan Wynne-Jones in the Sunday Telegraph
Controversial plans to build a "supermosque" on the doorstep of the London Olympics will be blocked by the Government. Alan Craig, Newham councillor, concerned about the supermosque Alan Craig is concerned about the security impact.
Ruth Kelly's Whitehall department is expected to refuse planning permission for the London Markaz, which would be the biggest religious building in Britain with room for 70,000 worshippers.
Backers want the £300 million mosque, in east London, to serve as a reception centre for athletes and fans from Islamic countries during the 2012 games.
The group behind the plans is Tablighi Jamaat, a Muslim missionary sect whose charitable trust, Anjuman-e-Islahul Muslimeen, has owned the 18-acre site since 1996. Tablighi Jamaat was called "an ante-chamber for fundamentalism" by French security services. Two of the July 7 London suicide bombers are believed to have attended one of its mosques.
The organisation denies any link to terrorism, and has never been banned....
Until now, it was thought that planners would rubber-stamp the proposed mosque, which was agreed in principle in a 2001 deal between Newham Council and Anjuman-e-Islahul Muslimeen.

Muslim fanatic works on trains
A MUSLIM fanatic who dressed as a suicide bomber at a rally threatening terror attacks has got a job on TRAINS.Sick Omar Khayam cleans carriages unsupervised for rail giant First Group. And he has even got keys to onboard electrical cupboards. Furious train drivers last night claimed the safety of staff and passengers is being put at risk. One driver added: "It’s an astonishing security breach."We cannot believe this man is employed in a job giving him access to locked places on trains where bombs could be hidden and never be found."He has keys that could be passed on to others for the electrical cupboards in carriages. It is a risk too far.
"Convicted drugs dealer Khayam, 22, had been filmed dressed as a bomber at the controversial demonstration outside London’s Danish Embassy last year. He wore a sinister camouflage outfit with a black vest. Extremists around him — protesting at cartoons of Mohammed — waved placards supporting the 7/7 London bombings and calling for new UK terror attacks. When challenged about his job, he said: "So what? I’ve not committed a crime. If there is a concern, that’s what the police are there for. That’s what security services are for."
The train line that hired this asshole is called First Capital Connect - and they obviously have no pressreleases at their website regarding their new employee.Last night First Group spokesman Robert Beahan said: "We are subject to UK employment law and carry out all necessary employment checks. The safety of customers and employees is our main priority."Yeah - right!Let's give Mr Beahan an earfull, shall we?
He can be reached at robert.beahan@firstgroup.com - let him know what we all think of him!

Kilroy calls for 'backward' Islam to open mosques to women
Bad dhimmi! Kilroy-Silk is at it again. Watch for the firestorm. From the Guardian,Robert Kilroy-Silk set himself on a collision course with sections of the Muslim community today when he claimed that most religious doctrine practised in the UK's mosques was "backward, tribal and from a medieval period".
The controversial MEP and former talk-show host made the remarks in an interview with the BBC in which he called for legislation to allow Muslim women into UK mosques.
He was speaking as it was claimed that a majority of mosques in the UK - around 60% - do not admit women at all.
He was debating with Halima Hussein, of civil liberties group the Muslim Public Affairs Committee, on BBC Radio 4's Today programme when he said that most religious doctrine was "backward".
Ms Hussein said: "It is an issue for the Muslim community that women are excluded from mosques and it is a complete disgrace."
She added: "We don't want to polarise the debate. We don't want women to be forced into mosques, we want them to be given their place because we believe it is their right within the religious text and it is their right within Islam to enter mosques.
"We don't want them to be forced in because of, you know, Western kind of values being imposed on mosques. We want the Islamic rights themselves to come forward."
She added: "We want it to come from religious text, we want it to come from religious doctrine that women are involved in their local mosque because a mosque is a place of religious worship."
Mr Kilroy-Silk replied: "Well, I wouldn't rely on that. If you rely on that then you will be waiting for centuries because most of the religious doctrine that is practised in the mosques here is backward, tribal, from a medieval period. You can't rely on that."
He added: "I don't believe in religions. I think all religions are fairy tales, I think they are evil and I don't think Islam is one of the better ones, so I don't want anybody to be forced to go to a mosque.
"What I do want is women to be treated equally, with dignity and respect. I don't want them to be subservient to Muslim men."
Swim centre bars two-year-old girl because she isn't Muslim

When Lee Williams saw a parent-and-toddler session advertised at his local pool, he thought it was the perfect chance to teach his young daughter to swim.
Arriving at the leisure centre already in her swimming costume, two-year-old Darby was desperate to get into the water.
But she was left in tears when staff said they were not allowed in the pool because the session was for Muslim women and their children only.
Mr Williams, 34, bitterly criticised Manchester City Council yesterday after it admitted that advertising for the session, on its website and on leaflets, had been misleading. 'I can understand why Muslim women need to have this kind of session, but the council should not be advertising it as parent and toddler,' he said.
'They made out I'd got it wrong, but I had checked on the council's website for the times.'
The incident happened at Abraham Moss Leisure Centre in Crumpsall. Mr Williams, a delivery driver from Blackley, had seen the parent-and-toddler session being promoted on the council's website and a leaflet.
But when they arrived, reception staff told Mr Williams he could not swim with Darby because it was a women-only session and they would have to come back later. Despite his protests that he had specifically checked the time of the session, the staff were insistent.
It was only when he telephoned the council to complain that he was told the session had been privately booked for Muslim women.
According to Islam, women are forbidden from exposing their bodies to any man but their husband.
A spokesman for Manchester City Council apologised to Mr Williams. He said: 'We were sorry to hear that he had been turned away. We are ensuring that our website is updated and staff are briefed so this does not happen again.'
The incident is the latest in a series of rows between local authorities and the public over swimming lessons for ethnic minority groups.
In December last year, Croydon Council in South London came under fire for running Muslim-only sessions at one of its leisure centres.
Non-Muslim members of Thornton Heath leisure centre were angry that they could not swim during the Muslim-only sessions on Saturdays and Sundays unless they obeyed the strict dress code.
For men, this involved wearing shorts which kept the navel hidden and were extended below the knee, while women bathers had to wear a swimming costume which covered their body from the neck down to the ankle.
Similarly, Wolverhampton Council and South Lanarkshire local authority have also been criticised for operating women- only swimming for Muslims.

Death videos shown in bomb trial
The jury in the 21 July terror trial has been shown videos of captives being killed, including beheadings, allegedly found in the homes of two defendants.
In one, a man in a red hood was shown placing a knife to the neck of an unknown victim kneeling in front of him before the video was stopped.
The films were found in flats occupied by Yassin Omar and Hussain Osman, Woolwich Crown Court was told.
Six men deny conspiracy to murder and cause explosions in London in 2005.
They are Mr Omar, 26, Mr Osman, 28, Manfo Asiedu, 33, Muktar Ibrahim, 29, Ramzi Mohammed, 25, and Adel Yahya, 24.
'Warfare images'
The prosecution said videos of killings were found at a flat in Curtis House, New Southgate, north London, where Mr Omar is said to have lived.
Footage was also played to the jury which had allegedly been discovered at Blair House, near Stockwell, south London, where Mr Osman is said to have lived.
The footage which showed the hooded man moving a knife towards his victim's neck, said to have been found in Mr Omar's home, also showed images of warfare.
After the video was stopped junior prosecutor Alison Morgan told the court what happened next.
Seven executions
"He then goes on to cut the throat of the victim, dismembers his body and holds it up to the camera," she said.
Footage from seven killings was shown, including those of an apparent Egyptian spy, a Korean man, a US electrical engineer and a CIA agent.
Each time the footage was shown, it was stopped before the fatal shot was fired or the blade cut the throat.
Miss Morgan also explained to the nine-woman, three-man jury what was about to happen before each film was shown.
The six men are accused of plotting to detonate a series of bombs on the capital's transport network on 21 July 2005.

Dhimmitude at Cambridge
A student at Cambridge University is in big trouble for printing one of the dreaded cartoons of blasphemy. He’s gone into hiding for fear of the Religion of Peace™.
And the university, sadly but unsurprisingly, is not supporting him. Instead, they’re considering disciplinary action, and have gotten the police involved: Fears magazine could fuel racial tension.
Once again we see a complete inability to distinguish between religion and race. There’s been a deliberate campaign by Islamists to blur this line, in order to criminalize criticism of Islam, and it’s obviously having some success.
A CAMBRIDGE University student is at the centre of a race-hate probe after printing anti-Islamic material in a magazine.
The 19-year-old second year student at Clare College was in hiding today (Friday, 09 February) after printing the racist cartoon and other vile material.
The article is said to be so inflammatory the undergraduate has been taken to a secret location for his own safety.
Today (Friday, 09 February), senior college officials were locked in urgent talks about how the material came to be published and what action to take against the student at the centre of the scandal.
A university spokesman said police had been made aware of the incident. A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Police said: "This is a matter for the university authorities to deal with." He added that an investigation was not yet in progress.
The student magazine, Clareification, printed a cropped copy of the cartoon of the prophet Mohammed next to a photo of the president of the Union of Clare Students. The cartoon was captioned with the president’s name and vice versa.
There was also comment suggesting one was a "violent paedophile" and the other was "a prophet of God, great leader and an example to us all."
The cartoon was the same one which caused riots across the world when it was printed in a Danish newspaper.
For his own safety and that of others, the student, who is British, has been taken out of his current accommodation and put in a secure place.
The paper had been renamed Crucification for a special edition on religious satire. The front page included headlines stating: "Ayatollah rethinks stance on misunderstood Rushdie".
On page six, pictures were shown of Muslims holding placards reading: "Behead those who insult Islam" and "Freedom go to Hell."
Enraged students have bombarded the Union of Clare Students with complaints and vice-president of the university’s Islamic society described it as "hugely offensive" and "crude unabashed prejudice."

Parents protest at school's 'Halal-only' lunch
Furious parents staged protests outside a school over its decision to serve up only halal meat at lunchtimes.Staff were forced to call the police after one father strode into the school in North London to challenge the new meals policy.
Kingsgate Primary in West Hampstead is among growing numbers of schools with high Muslim populations to use halal-only meat in cooking.
But the menus, which will feature only meat that has been slaughtered in the halal way with a single cut to the throat, have not always been well received.
At Kingsgate, parents carrying placards congregated at the school gates to demand a reversal of the policy, claiming their children would be denied a choice.
But the protests triggered claims of racism from parents of Muslim children, who make up three quarters of the school population.
Yesterday headmistress Liz Hayward was refusing to back down, insisting that a majority of parents had backed the move to halal-only menus in a comprehensive survey of families.
But protesting parents accused her of forcing their children to to conform to "someone else's culture".
Mother Jacqueline Gomm said: "I sent my kids to this school because I don't want them to be affected by religion.
"We can't force our culture on someone else because that's not right so we shouldn't have someone else's culture forced on us.
"The little culture that we have is being lost. I don't know any other country that would do the same."
She added: "I totally deny being guilty of racism.
"We allow people to come into this country and we end up being in a minority.
"We accommodate other cultures at the expense of ours."
Staff at Kingsgate were forced to take phones off the hook after abusive callers claimed to be from the British National Party.
Miss Gomm insisted: "The phone calls from the BNP had nothing to do with us. "But the sad thing is many people will turn to them because they feel there is no other choice."
One father claims he was threatened with arrest if he steps inside Kingsgate grounds after entering the school to challenge the head's claims over the results of the parental survey on halal meat.
Neville Grant said: "I went to the school to protest because I didn't believe the statistics but the headteacher refused to show me them.
"The next thing I know is when my daughter called me and said that three police cars and a van had pulled up outside my house.
"I'm a next of kin for my son and now I can't even go into the school. It's outrageous."
However one Muslim parent, Solveig Francis, accused the protesters of "naked racism", adding: "It's got nothing to do with choice.
"When you listen to what they say about English culture being imposed upon and so on, it really does give it away.
"They talk about keeping up English values - but the most important value we have is democracy. It's about time that was upheld."
The halal method of slaughtering animals involves blessing them before cutting through the large arteries in the neck with one swipe of a blade.
All blood is then drained away since the consumption of blood is forbidden under Islamic law.
Some animal rights activists have claimed the halal method is less humane than modern slaughtering techniques where the animal is stunned before being killed.
But Muslims believe halal is the most painless method since the neck is severed quickly, preventing the livestock feeling pain.
A spokeswoman from Camden Council denied Mr Grant had been banned from the school.
She added that Kingsgate was among four schools in the borough to have opted for halal-only menus.
She said: "There will also be a vegetarian choice and a jacket potato with toppings of choose, beans or fish, so there is always a hot, healthy option available for all children."
UK Islamic School Teaching Hatred (More Info)
YouTube has the latest information from UK TV on the Saudi-funded Islamic school recently revealed to be teaching hatred and jihad. It turns out—and imagine my surprise—that the hatred is much more prevalent and pervasive in the school’s books than the first report indicated.

Terror alert school is shut down

An Islamic school at the centre of a terror alert last year is to be shut down after education officials said it was no longer good enough to operate.
The Department for Education and Skills has removed the independent Jameah Islameah school in East Sussex from the Register of Independent Schools.
This means it is illegal for the school, which was raided by anti-terror police last year, to operate.
It comes after the school did not meet an action plan to tackle failings.
The school, near Crowborough, was searched in September 2006 at the same time as 14 people were arrested in a series of raids in London.
In the past three years more than 45 independent schools have shut down as a consequence of this government's tough approach Jim Knight Schools Minister
Although no-one at the school was held, concerns were raised about it at the time and a series of Ofsted inspections followed.
The school, which is not currently operating because of a lack of pupils, was required to satisfy an action plan but this has not been met, the Department for Education and Skills said.
A spokesman said: "The department has now concluded that, while some progress has been made, the school nevertheless continues to fail to meet the standards which all independent schools must meet under the Education Act 2002."
This relates to the quality of education provided; the welfare, health and safety of pupils and the standard of the premises and accommodation.
"In these circumstances, the department has no choice but to delete Jameah Islameah from the Register of Independent Schools," he added.
Schools Minister Jim Knight said: "It is important that parents and the wider public are assured that all schools - whether in the maintained or independent sector - provide their pupils with a suitable education, and that we will take strong action against those that are failing.
"In the past three years more than 45 independent schools have shut down as a consequence of this government's tough approach.
"However, the government remains keen to support the delivery of high quality education by schools in the independent sector, and the recent Education and Inspections Act 2006 will make it easier for independent schools to enter the state sector to improve standards.
"The government has funded the Association of Muslim Schools to advise independent Muslim schools interested in joining the state sector."
The Jemeah Islameah school could not be reached for a response.

Legal fight for school veil
Lawyers for a 12-year-old girl say her school is "irrational" in not letting her wear a full facial veil because her three sisters were allowed to do so.
They told a judge at the High Court that the girl's elder sisters went to the same school in Buckinghamshire and had worn the niqab.
The school, which is not being named for legal reasons, says the niqab does not comply with its uniform code.
The girl's family are seeking a judicial review of the school's ruling.
A judge heard that the girl's sisters had all attended the same school in the past - two of them under the present head teacher - and had all worn the niqab with no objections.
The niqab covers all of the face except for the eyes.
The three young women had participated fully in school activities and the school was "very supportive of them as devout Muslims and the way they expressed their faith," said Dan Squires, lawyer for their sister.
It was not rational to stop the youngest girl wearing the niqab, he told Mr Justice Silber.
Legal costs
The girl is protected by an anonymity order, as is her Buckinghamshire school, and was only referred to as 'X' in the case.
Her lawyers also argued that the school's ruling was breaching her right to freedom of "thought, conscience and religion" under Article 9 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
The school says the full face veil does not comply with its uniform code because it hampers communication.
The girl involved has not been excluded from the secondary school but has been asked not to come wearing the niqab.
Buckinghamshire Council had warned that the school might be forced to back down because of the high cost of the legal proceedings.
But The Muslim Educational Centre of Oxford has said it will raise funds for the school. Its chairman Taj Hargey said he wanted to step in to show that not all Muslims agreed with the niqab.
Uniform code
The pupil, who joined the school in September, has not been in lessons since October. She has had some tuition at home.
At the High Court in London, Mr Squires told the judge that the school's written policy on uniform over the years had not mentioned Muslim dress.
There was an unwritten policy based on "custom and practice" regarding additional clothing which could be worn.
He said there was no indication that the policy on the niqab would change until the head teacher saw 'X' standing in a lunch queue in early September last year.
Last year, the Law Lords ruled that a Luton school was justified in banning the jilbab, a long gown, but it took a lengthy legal battle before this was established.
Government guidance says schools can decide their own uniform code in consultation with the community.
Dunblane
During the hearing, Mr Justice Silber invited argument from counsel on the issue of school security and the need to see facial expressions.
He referred to the 1996 Dunblane massacre, saying: "Everyone knows these days how security-conscious head teachers have to be at school.
"They have to be able to glance around and recognise who's there."
He also said teachers might need to react to pupils' facial expressions. He said in raising the issues, he was not expressing an opinion one way or the other.
The hearing was adjourned until Friday. Judgment will be reserved to a later date.

Preacher held under Terrorism Act

A Muslim preacher has been arrested in east London over allegations of encouraging terrorism.
Abu Izzadeen was held by in Leyton High Road by counter-terrorism officers, Scotland Yard said.
He hit the headlines last September after heckling Home Secretary John Reid but it is understood the inquiry is related to a 2006 speech in Birmingham.
Mr Izzadeen is being held at a central London police station under Section 1 of the Terrorism Act 2006.
In September, Mr Izzadeen, who was born Trevor Brooks in London, interrupted Mr Reid's speech at the public meeting in Leytonstone.
Mr Reid asked Muslim parents to keep a close eye on their children and act if they suspected they were being radicalised by extremists.
Mr Izzadeen shouted out: "Shame on all of us for sitting down and listening to him."
He said he was "furious" about "state terrorism by British police" and accused the minister of being an "enemy" of Islam before being led from the building by police and stewards.
A second heckler, who also interrupted Mr Reid's speech, was ejected a few minutes later.
This is the speech that got him thrown in the clink

Terror suspect 'fled in burka'
TERROR suspect Yassin Omar was tracked to Birmingham wearing a burka, the 21/7 trial heard yesterday.
Omar activated a new SIM card in his mobile the day after the alleged 2005 bungled suicide bomb attacks on London’s transport network.
Prosecutors say the plotters were trying at that time to clear the bomb factory flat in New Southgate, North London.
The mobile was used to make a call on that same afternoon.
Police were able to establish that Omar boarded a coach to Birmingham wearing a woman’s full-length burka and clutching a handbag, Woolwich Crown Court in South East London was told.
The court heard the six Africans made HUNDREDS of mobile calls to each other in the months before their campaign.
Many of those calls placed the alleged gang members in the same place at the same time.
But the contact stopped at 12.47pm on July 21, the time of the intended massacre.
Omar, 26, Adel Yahya, 24, Muktar Ibrahim, 28, Hussein Osman, 28, Ramzi Mohammed, 25, and Manfu Asiedu, 33, deny conspiracy to murder and cause explosions. The trial continues.

Muslims to pay school's legal fight to uphold niqab ban
Some most encouraging news from the UK. By Philip Johnston in the Telegraph,
A Muslim group has offered to help fund a school's legal battle over its refusal to let a pupil wear the niqab in class. The niqab, which covers the whole face except the eyes
In an unprecedented move, the Muslim Educational Centre of Oxford (Meco) has written to the head teacher to say it is prepared to contribute to a fighting fund.
Taj Hargey, Meco's chairman, said he was also willing to organise a campaign among Muslims nationally to resist "this largely Saudi-driven campaign to make the niqab a compulsory requirement for Muslim women".
Dr Hargey's offer comes as the school, which cannot be identified because of a court order, faces the prospect of an expensive legal fight without any backing.
Buckinghamshire county council, the local authority for the school, is unwilling to underwrite a challenge which it believes could cost as much as £500,000.
A court on Thursday is due to decide whether the school's decision not to allow the pupil, aged 12, to wear the veil should go to a full judicial review. The school, which already allows girls to wear head scarves called hijabs, drew the line at the niqab, which covers the whole face except the eyes.
It is insisting that the family accepts the uniform policy but the father has been given legal aid to fight a human rights case.

Hamza lawyer paid £500,000 in just 7 months - all from legal aid
The lawyer who represented hate preacher Abu Hamza and key terrorist suspects is being paid nearly £17,000 a week in legal aid.Muddassar Arani's law firm reportedly netted £506,466 in the first seven months of the current financial year.
The figure does not include the estimated £1 million the firm claimed for representing Hamza. The firm's figures have gone up steadily as the war on terror has progressed.
Politicians and public spending watchdogs have condemned the huge sum, which met by the taxpayer.
Matthew Elliott, the director of the Taxpayers' Alliance, said: "Ordinary people are sick of legal aid being wasted on those who openly hate Britain. When the concept of human rights is twisted by highly paid lawyers to protect such people, it undermines trust in our justice system."
The firm Arani & Co, run by Ms Arani, 42, became synonymous with Hamza as he fought extradition to America, and then prosecution for racehate crime.
The law firm states it specialises in fighting "abuses taking place as a result of the so-called alleged war on terror" and is based in a small office above a cash-and-carry in Southall, Middlesex.
Details of Arani & Co's latest earnings were released to the Daily Express under the Freedom of Information Act.
The news comes as ministers are trying to shave &£100 million from the annual £2.1 billion spent on criminal and civil legal aid.
Saudi School in UK Teaching Hatred, Violence
Newsflash: despite what you may have heard, the Saudis are not our friends: Pupils aged five ‘poisoned’ at Islamic school that ‘teaches hate’. An Islamic school is poisoning the minds of pupils with lessons in hate, a former teacher claims.
Colin Cook, 57, says textbooks used by children as young as five at the King Fahad Academy in Acton describe Jews as "repugnant" and "apes" and Christians as "pigs".
Pupils have allegedly been heard saying they want to "kill Americans", praising 9/11 and idolising Osama bin Laden as their "hero".
There are fears that it could become a breeding ground for terrorists with Mr Cook warning: "The school could produce a dangerous harvest." Its sister school of the same name in Bonn has been singled out by the German intelligence services as a meeting place for activists linked to terrorism.
Mr Cook, a Muslim convert, taught English at the school for 19 years until he was sacked in December last year. He claims he was fired after blowing the whistle on the school for covering up cheating by children in GCSE exams and is bringing a tribunal claim for unfair dismissal, race discrimination and victimisation.
He also alleges that when he complained to school management about the content of the curriculum and questioned whether it complied with British laws, he was told: "This is not England. It is Saudi Arabia".
British TV report on the Saudi-funded King Fahad Academy in Acton, where the schoolbooks teach that Jews are monkeys and pigs, and Christians and Jews will burn in hellfire.
The director of the school is interviewed, and she says the translations are inaccurate, taken out of context, etc. You know the drill.
"He who joins the British Army, the American Army, he is a mortal kaffir and his only hukum (punishment) is for his head to be removed"

Abu Izzadeen is the character who challenged British sovereignty over a Muslim area of East London. Here he calls for the beheading of Muslims who join the British or American armies, and affirms that a Muslim who leaves Islam must be executed, in accord with Muhammad's command (Bukhari 9.84.57).
When I point out that Muhammad commanded the execution of apostates, I'm called an "Islamophobe." Is Abu Izzadeen an "Islamophobe"?
"Extremist video uncovered," from ITV News,
evidence of a leading Muslim extremist calling for the beheading of British Muslim soldiers has been uncovered.
A video of Abu Izzadeen, preaching his message of hate two years ago, has been discovered on an underground website.
In the video, he said: "Whoever allies himself with the Kaffirs (non-believers) against the believers - he is one of them.
"He who joins the British Army, the American Army, he is a mortal kaffir and his only hukum (punishment) is for his head to be removed.
"Indeed, whoever changes his deen (Muslim code of life); kill him."

Terror charge for Manchester man
A 24-year-old man has been charged with terrorism offences after being arrested in Manchester last month.
Abdul Rahman, from Heywood Street in Cheetham Hill, has been charged with intent to assist another to commit acts of terrorism.
He was detained by Greater Manchester Police on the 23 January with a second man, who has been freed without charge.
He is due to appear at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court in London on Tuesday.

Radical cleric praises bin Laden
A radical Islamic cleric is operating at the heart of the community where police foiled an alleged plot to kidnap and murder a British soldier.Abu Usamah, 42, has been accused of preaching inflammatory anti-Western sermons at the Green Lane Mosque in Birmingham, close to the homes of several suspects arrested last week.
Usamah, an American convert to Islam, has told worshippers Osama Bin Laden is "better than a million George Bushes and a thousand Tony Blairs" and that non-Muslims are "pathological liars".
In another sermon he said Christians and Jews were "kuffaars" (non-believers) and the enemies of Islam. "
No one loves the kuffaar, not a single person loves the kuffaar. We hate the kuffaar," he said.
Usamah - who also claims women have "deficient" intellects and that gays should be "thrown from a mountain" - preaches that Britain should become an Islamic state.
And although he claims to condemn terrorism, he has predicted that "the time is fast approaching" when Muslims will win the jihad, or holy war, against non-believers.
His radical preaching was exposed in a recent documentary by Channel 4’s Dispatches programme.
The mosque is in Small Heath, which adjoins the Sparkbrook area of Birmingham where severahomes and businesses were raided last week.
Nine arrests were made.
Police suspect the alleged plotters planned to kidnap and behead a British Muslim soldier and then broadcast the murder on the Internet.
Usamah, who lives near the mosque, has not held one of his monthly sermons since the arrests were made and was unavailable for comment yesterday.
But both he and those who run the mosque insist his comments have been taken out of context.
Usamah claims he encourages Muslims to "peacefully coexist here in the UK with non-Muslims" and that it was the "religious duty of all Muslims to obey UK law".
A mosque spokesman said: "We have a long track record of good community relations and peaceful co-existence with all sections of the wider community."
The mosque is affiliated to the moderate Muslim Council Of Britain, which has also rejected claims that Green Lane Mosque condones extremist views.
Security forces 'foil terror plot every six weeks'

Twice as many Islamist terror plots have been disrupted since the July 7 suicide bombings as has previously been made public, Britain's security services insist.
A further six plots, which have been kept secret until now for security reasons, had been planned by groups across Britain since the London Underground and bus bombings in 2005.
Whitehall sources refused to provide precise details on security grounds.
The revelation demonstrates the scale of the task facing MI5 and the police, who are now discovering or disrupting some kind of terrorist plot in the United Kingdom every six weeks. Up to 12 plots of all kinds have been discovered in the past year and a half.
Dame Eliza Manningham-Buller, the director-general of MI5, revealed last November that there were an estimated 1,600 suspected terrorist involved in at least 200 networks in Britain.
It is understood that details of the previously undisclosed plots have been kept secret because no arrests were made and many of those involved assumed that their plans had "ground to a halt" for "natural reasons", such as a failure to acquire specific material. A Whitehall source said: "It has always been the case that much of MI5's work is never made public and this is an example of that."
Details of the plots emerged just days after MI5 and anti-terrorist detectives from the West Midlands Police foiled an alleged plan to kidnap a British soldier.
Nine suspects were arrested in the Birmingham area after a joint operation involving police and MI5 officers that brought a six-month investigation to its climax. Some of those arrested are alleged to have been planning to abduct and behead a young British Muslim soldier recently returned from Afghanistan. It is also alleged that his would-be murderers planned to post a video recording of his death on the internet.
Police said 18 addresses had been raided during Operation Gamble, the investigation into the alleged abduction plot, and that a "significant quantity" of exhibits had been taken away for examination.
Detectives are continuing to question the nine men arrested. Eight of the suspects were picked up in a series of dawn raids on Wednesday; the ninth was stopped on a motorway in the city several hours later. The nine suspects, eight British men of Pakistani descent and one Pakistani, have been detained on suspicion of the commission, instigation or preparation of acts of terrorism.
Officials investigating the alleged abduction have criticised some media coverage of the case, which claimed that a number of soldiers had volunteered to act as "tethered goats" in an effort to expose the alleged Islamist plotters and that there were "25 Muslim soldiers" on a terrorist hit list. Both claims have been dismissed by security sources.
The alleged abduction presents the Ministry of Defence with a series of problems on what personal security advice should be issued to the 350 Muslim servicemen and women in the Armed Forces. During the conflict in Northern Ireland all military personnel were warned of the potential dangers when off-duty. Troops were told to check private vehicles for booby traps, to vary their routes to and from work and, in some cases, not to wear uniform outside military establishments.
The Ministry of Defence has refused to comment on whether such measures would be revived following the latest developments.
It has also emerged that as many as four of those in custody are believed to have recently returned from a trip to Pakistan, giving rise to the belief that the plot may have been ordered by al-Qaeda, the terrorist network headed by Osama bin Laden.
Pakistani officials have given warning that with up to 400,000 Britons travelling to their country every year, the majority of those to visit family and friends, the monitoring of every terrorist suspect is impossible. British-born terrorist recruits, using valid passports, can easily pass through security checkpoints when they enter Pakistan. Because most travellers have family links, few are questioned.
Once inside the country they are free to travel to the belt of territory along the border with Afghanistan, where hardline Muslim clerics preach the need for jihad against the West at some of the more radical madrassas, or Islamic schools. They also find it straightforward to attend one of the al-Qaeda terrorist training camps known to operate in the region.

UK officials suspect jihadist mole in Ministry of Defense
"Gee, how could this possibly happen?" asks Doc Washburn, Surely you don't mean to suggest that a Muslim working in the British Ministry of Defense might have jihadist sympathies! Why, consider all the screening British officials do to make sure that Muslims they hire don't harbor such sentiments!
Of course, actually they don't screen for that at all.
Meanwhile, a new drain on the British economy will be the expense of guarding Muslim soldiers so that they aren't murdered by other Muslims. When your soldiers have to be protected by armed guard, something is seriously wrong.
"Fears of terror mole in UK defence," by Daniel McGrory and Russell Jenkins in The Australian:
DEFENCE chiefs have launched an urgent investigation into how a gang of suspected Islamic terrorists obtained a list of names and addresses for 25 serving British Muslim soldiers as part of an alleged plot to kidnap and behead a serviceman.
Senior officers are alarmed that the hitlist includes home addresses as far apart as Glasgow and the West Country.
A priority will be to ensure that no Ministry of Defence "mole" provided the suspected terror cell with such top-secret personal information.
All those on the hitlist are understood to be serving members of the regular army....
Police in the West Midlands were given seven more days yesterday to hold nine men arrested in Birmingham on Wednesday. The men are being held in connection with a suspected plan to abduct and murder a serving soldier, whose execution was to be broadcast on the internet.
Defence officials would not say if all those named on the hitlist had been warned. Senior MoD officials met yesterday to consider whether new security provisions were needed to protect the 330 Muslims serving in the armed forces and their families.
New guidelines are expected to be issued to Muslim personnel in the next few days about their personal safety. A defence official said last night: "Such sensitive information about our personnel is kept under conditions of strict confidentiality, so we obviously want to discover how a list of names and home addresses was reportedly compiled."

sssssssshhhhh.dont tell any one ,
They could be holding meetings about how they will redouble efforts to root out such plots and eradicate jihadist sentiments from among Muslims in Britain. Instead, this.
A Birmingham businessman has called for gagging orders to shield the identities of the nine men arrested over an alleged kidnapping plot in the city.
Police have not revealed identities but some names have appeared in newspapers.
Speakers at a public meeting held at Birmingham Central Mosque said they were concerned about the "media frenzy" before anyone was charged or convicted.
Businessman Tariq Mahmood said the reputation of the men and the community could be tainted.
Mr Mahmood, from Alum Rock where some of the arrests were made, said: "There is no evidence, that we know of, but pure speculation, statements from the Home Secretary, houses raided and the media frenzy.
"The media will go away, the politics will move on but we will feel the effects of this farce for years to come."
'Leaks' concern
Moazzam Begg, who was detained by the US at Guantanamo Bay without charge before being released, was among the others to attend the meeting.
He was critical of the apparent leaking of information to journalists ahead of the raids.
"I hope that when the truth manifests itself that, metaphorically, heads will roll with the people who put out these stories in the first place," he said.
Some speakers also called for an Independent Police Complaints Commission investigation into the possible leaks to the media.
And the government was accused of demonising Muslims and alienating the community.
The nine men are being held under the Terrorism Act at a Coventry police station on suspicion of planning to kidnap and murder a Muslim soldier.
On Friday, Assistant Chief Constable David Shaw acknowledged he was aware of "considerable bewilderment" in the community about what had been alleged to have taken place but stressed that his officers had only released the most basic information about the investigation.
"Despite certain labels given to those men by the media, what we are dealing with here in its purest sense is criminality," he said.

Britons arrested in Kenya 'members of Islamic militia'
New British export: jihad. From The Scotsman,
FOUR Britons believed to have fought alongside a Somali Islamic militia group are being held by Kenyan police....
Somalia's deputy prime minister also claimed that some financial support for the Islamic militant movement in his country was coming from the UK.
A spokeswoman for the British Embassy said: "We had confirmation from the Kenyan authorities that they are holding four British nationals.
"We continue to press urgently for consular access so that we can confirm their nationality and offer every assistance."
The Britons were among a group of ten foreign nationals held, including two Americans, one of whom is wanted in the US for links to radical movements.

Sleepwalking with the enemy
Ruth Dudley Edwards in the Telegraph calls upon the U.K. to wake up. I don't think this "fringe," unfortunately, is all that fringy, but at least "fringe" is better than "hijacking."
'UK you will pay, Islam is on its way," is the chilling slogan favoured by Muslim radical Abdul Saleem, who was convicted this week of stirring up racial hatred at a rally in London last year.
Addressing the crowd in Belgravia Square, near the Spanish and German embassies, Saleem was filmed saying: "There will come a time when we will stand inside these embassies. There will come a time when we will remove that flag. There will come a time when we will raise the flag of Islam – whether you like it or not, Islam is superior and cannot be surpassed."
His defence should have pointed out that he was merely stating the obvious. He and his kind believe that through intimidation, conversion and out-breeding, the United Kingdom – and the world over – can be brought under Sharia law.
I take Islam – a religion which, at its best, greatly improves the lives of its adherents – and Islamism – its pernicious fringe – very seriously. The Qur'an is beside my bed, along with Bruce Lawrence's The Qur'an: A Biography; I've just finished Karen Armstrong's hagiographical Muhammad and its antithesis, Robert Spencer's The Truth About Muhammad; I try vainly to persuade visitors to watch my DVD of Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West; Michael Gove should pay me commission for having persuaded so many people to buy his Celsius 7/7; I've just ordered Nick Cohen's What's Left?: How Liberals Lost Their Way to join the pile of Islam-related books on my to-read pile, which I have little time to address because, in addition to working for a living, I spend at least two or three hours a day reading about Islamic matters or talking to similarly obsessed friends and colleagues at speeches and seminars.
There is much in my personal and working life that, early on, put me in the camp of those who believe Islamism is a totalitarian threat that could destroy our civilisation within a few decades with the help of the West-loathing Left, the wimpish Right, the political and diplomatic wishful thinkers, the massed ranks of risk-averse politically correct bien-pensants and the cowards who want to avoid confrontation at all costs – not to speak of the innumerable peaceable British Muslims who allow bullies and bigots to represent them in the media and who buy into the comfort blanket of victimhood.

Supply teacher sacked in race row
A supply teacher has been sacked from a secondary school following complaints from Muslim pupils.
Andrew McLuskey was sacked from Bayliss Court Secondary School in Slough after a Religious Education lesson discussing the pros and cons of religion.
Pupils at the predominantly Muslim school claimed Mr McLuskey said most suicide bombers were Muslim.
But he rejected the allegation and said the school was too quick to sack him without giving him right of reply.
"Very unjust"
He expected to complete an eight week contract at the school - but was sacked after only several days.
"I feel it's very unjust," he said.
"I think I should've been given the chance to respond to the allegations and not in effect be ejected from a job without the chance to defend myself."
The school authorities denied they were being heavy-handed and said their first priority was pupils' welfare.
"I don't think it's important what I think," said the school's deputy head teacher Ray Hinds.
"It's what the pupils think that were in the classroom at the time. And they were very upset."
Contact Ray Hinds and tell him what you think to his hasty reaction based on a few wimpering kids. Point out that even if the teacher had said most suicide bombers were muslim, he wouldn't have been lying. Children need to know and hear the truth.

UK Muslim Leader Seethes Over Stopped Plots
Because the UK is exposing Islamic terror plots to blow airplanes out of the sky and behead innocent people, a Muslim leader says Britain is becoming a police state.
Just like ... you guessed it! ... Nazi Germany.
A Muslim leader has warned that Britain is moving towards a "police state," comparing the situation to Nazi Germany after the anti-terror raids in the city of Birmingham this week.
But Mohammad Naseem, chairman of Birmingham’s Central Mosque, urged Muslims to show restraint following the raids, in which nine suspects were arrested over allegations of plotting an "Iraq-style" kidnapping and filmed beheading.
"The country is moving toward a police state. That’s not right. We have to change this," he said inside the mosque, where some 2,000 Muslims gathered for weekly Friday prayers.
"We can change this for the better by coming together, not by coming apart. .. Remain calm, don’t get angry. Anger is a natural emotion, but Muslims should control it. We must never give way to anger," he said.
Speaking outside the mosque shortly before the prayer session began, he compared the current situation, and anti-terrorism legislation introduced in Britain in recent years, to Nazi Germany.
"The German people were told the Jews were a threat. The same thing is happening here. The Muslims are now the bogey people," he said. "It’s a small community. It’s easy to pick on them. That’s what’s being done."
Note that these people who claim the mantle of victimhood as "the new Jews" are the same ones who deny the Holocaust, and pressure the UK government to cancel Holocaust Remembrance Day.
