Jail for drink-driver who killed father and son in 120mph crash 'while performing sex act'

A drunk driver who killed a father and son was pleasuring himself at the wheel moments before the fatal crash, a court has heard.

Imran Hussain's powerful Audi Q7 was like a 'speeding bullet' moments before it ploughed into the back of a Fiat Punto carrying Gary Proctor, 47, his wife Catherine, 44, and their 16-year-old son James.
Mr Proctor and James died in the collision on the M62 motorway near Rochdale, Greater Manchester, on August 3 last year.

Imran Hussain, was pleasuring himself and was twice over the drink drive limit when he crashed his car, killing father and son James and Gary Proctor
The family were on their way to Liverpool Airport to fly out on a dream holiday to New York and Florida.

Hussain, 32, from Bradford, West Yorkshire, pleaded guilty to two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and one count of driving with excess alcohol.
Manchester Crown Court heard that Hussain's had been driving at around 120mph before the impact and that his penis was partially exposed when motorists came to his aid after the crash.
Judge Andrew Blake told him: 'At the least it must have been a symptom you were not giving your full attention to driving.'

He sentenced him to eight years for each of the two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, to be served concurrently, and banned him from driving for 15 years.
He made no separate penalty for driving with excess alcohol.

Prosecutor Andrew Nuttall said Hussain, a car dealer and father-of-four, was twice over the legal limit.

Mr Nuttall said the tragedy happened after Hussain stormed out of his family home following an argument with his wife.
He met friends in Bradford town centre where they drove around drinking a bottle of Southern Comfort before going to a lap dancing club in Leeds.
Later Hussain drove off in his Audi and arrived at a BP petrol station in Leeds where the cashier noticed him 'staggering and clearly drunk.'

The cashier took down Hussain's registration number and called police.
But disaster struck as he sped onto the M62 towards Manchester with other motorists left so concerned by his erratic driving that they called police on their mobile phones.
Mobile phone records showed that just moments before the impact, at around 5am, Hussain got a 118 118 text on his mobile for the number of an escort agency.
One motorist Christian Downard spotted Hussain's Audi veering across the road in front of him as he tried to overtake it.

Catherine Proctor, left, was traveling in the same car as her son and husband, but survived the crash. The family were on their way to a dream holiday in the U.S.
Mr Nuttall said: 'The Q7 then accelerated away and was weaving all over the road, undertaking a car in the middle lane by going into the near side lane before moving back across the lanes generally.

'Mr Downard immediately said to his passengers "this guy is p****d."
'He then saw the defendant apparently veer into the central reservation.
'It is clear that Mr Downard told police that the defendant is driving at about 120mph and is going all over the road and is going to kill someone.

'Sadly these turned out to be prophetic words.'

Hussain will have to serve half of his eight year sentence before he is considered for parole.
But having already served 125 days in custody, he could be free by September 2012.
The maximum sentence he could have faced was 14 years and now prosecutors plan to appeal against the sentence because they felt it was too lenient.

The judge Andrew Blake gave no reason for his decision.
Elizabeth Nichols, mitigating, said, 'It was not his intention when he began drinking to be a driver that night and it is not accepted by this defendant that he was sexually excited.
'He made the phone call some thirty to forty minutes before the accident.
'It is his memory that he was either dragged or pulled out of the driving seat and he was wearing trousers that came down as he was dragged out of the car.'

In a statement widowed Mrs Proctor, who has also been left childless, said: 'No words or sentence will ever describe the devastation that we feel.
'No one should ever go through the nightmare I have suffered over the last four months.'
'James was my only child and loved life. Gary was a quiet, lovely man who I have spent my whole adult life with. We had been married for 24 years.
