A TEENAGE virgin was raped by an Iranian immigrant who picked her up in a nightclub, jurors heard.
The 18-year-old Polish girl was so drunk she was unable to resist the advances of Belan Sidiq and incapable of consenting to sexual intercourse, the prosecution at Stafford Crown Court alleged.
Sidiq, aged 20, an Iranian Kurd, denies a charge of rape.
Lorna Campbell, prosecuting, said the girl had come to Stoke-on-Trent for temporary work and on July 19 last year she and her friend decided to go out to a nightclub for the first time.
They chose Liquid, in Hanley, and after drinking four beers she was left "in quite a state" because she was not used to alcohol.
She had been chatting and dancing with Sidiq, but after that her memory is almost blank.
Miss Campbell said the girl was taken to a house in the Stoke-on-Trent area, where she remembers sexual activity taking place.
She went home in a taxi and the following morning was disturbed to find blood in her underwear. Police were alerted and she was medically examined and swabs were taken.
The defendant was arrested when he revisited the nightclub.
At first he made no comment.
Miss Campbell said the tests taken from the victim matched a DNA sample taken from Sidiq.
After being told this, Sidiq told police there had been full consensual sex between him and the girl.
The trial is continuing.
