Lord Ahmed of Rotherham served only 16 days of a 12-week sentence for dangerous driving.
He smiled and looked relaxed back at his detached Spanish-style home in the South Yorkshire town.
Lord Ahmed, 50, said: “I’m staying here for a few days then I’ll go back to London and the House of Lords to work with the community.”
But he declined to talk about his time behind bars in Doncaster Prison — nicknamed Doncatraz locally — and then Moorland, an open prison which once housed boxer Prince Naseem Hamed.
He said: “Let’s just say it was an experience.”
The Appeal Court suspended his sentence on Thursday. It heard he made and received five texts shortly before a fatal crash on the M1 on Christmas Day, 2007.
The victim was Martyn Gombar, 27. An inquest is due next month.

This is the same "Lord" who threatened to mobilize 10,000 muslims in order to prevent Geert Wilders from speaking to the House of Lords. Free Speech and islam just don't mix!
