Police are hunting for a man who has gone on the run after being caught on camera trying to meet a 13-year-old girl for sex.

Abdullah Hardari-Moqadam thought he was waiting for a schoolgirl he had been grooming online when he was confronted by members of the vigilante paedophile hunters, Dark Justice.

The 25-year-old, who was on bail, was due at Newcastle Crown Court to be sentenced yesterday.

But when he failed to to turn up for the hearing, Judge Robert Adams issued a warrant for his arrest.

Hardari-Modadam had been exchanging explicit messages with the youngster, who he believed was a 13-year-old schoolgirl.

He travelled from his home in Stockton, to meet the girl at a pre-arranged place in central Newcastle.

As a result of the confrontation, Hardari-Moqadam was arrested and admitted attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming.

His barrister John Wilkinson told the court Hardari-Moqadam had been written to with details of the hearing but had not shown up.

The anonymous paedophile hunters Dark Justice, based in Newcastle, pose as underage girls online and trap potential predators.

Dark Justice has so far seen 19 potential paedophiles convicted by the courts as a result of their online conversations.

The group, who have never revealed their identities, appeared anonymously on ITV This Morning and on Jeremy Kyle’s Kyle Files to promote their work.

They have some 60,000 followers on Facebook and Twitter and one supporter recently set up a Go Fund Me page for the group.
