Trivial Fine Given To Islamist Who Supports Beheading For Insulting Islam
According to Reuters, the former deputy leader of Al Muhajiroun, Anjem Choudary, was today fined 500 pounds ($921) and 300 pounds court costs ($553) for organising an illegal demonstration in London.
Choudary organised the demonstration outside the Danish Embassy in Sloane Square, west London, on February 3 this year (pictured). The protest was about the Danish cartoons of the so-called prophet Mohammed. The demonstration shocked members of the public, the international media, and even the normally comatose members of the Houses of Parliament.
What shocked the public were the placards, which had been made by a hijab-clad woman connected to the organisers, which bore slogans such as: "Behead those who insult Islam", "Europe. Take some lessons from 9/11", "Europe you will pay. Demolition is on its way", "Europe you will pay. Your extermination is on its way," "Slay those who insult Islam," "Butcher those who insult Islam."
One demonstrator, Omar Khayam, even dressed as a suicide bomber. It turned out later that he was still on probation, having been given a conditional early release from a jail sentence. Though Khayam publicly apologised on national TV, he was sent back to jail.
When the illegal demonstration took place, police not only refused to make any arrests, but a young constable even threatened to arrest a citizen who complained about the unlawful displays of such placards. Film of the demonstration and the policeman's total ignorance can be found HERE (broadband required, or download to play).
The demonstration was attended by members of the Saviour/Saved Sect and Al Ghurabaa, groups which we discussed earlier.
In Bow Street Magistrates court today Choudary, a former lawyer who has publicly taunted victims of 7/7 and 9/11, was told that he had not given the requisite six days' notice to hold a public demonstration.
Judge Nicholas Evans said: "Mr Choudary must be sufficiently aware that he can't push the police into a position where they are forced to make emergency arrangements."
Choudary claimed in the court: "There is a lot of media pressure and political pressure put on people to bring a prosecution."
He was sentenced before in 2003 for organising illegal demonstrations.
Currently, four others who were connected with the protests are awaiting trial. Newswatch states that on Friday, June 26, these appeared at the Old Bailey. 23 year old Abdul Muhid who is a member of the Saved Sect, appeared via a videolink from Winchester prison where he is currently being held. He denied two counts of soliciting murder to those who insulted Islam.
Umran Javed, aged 26 from Birmingham, present in court, denied one charge of soliciting to murder American or Danish nationals and one charge of using threatening words or behaviour likely to stir up racial hatred.
Mizanur Rahman, 22, present in court, denied one count of soliciting the murder of those who insulted Islam, as well as US and UK servicemen and Danish, French and Spanish civilians, and denied a charge of using words likely to stir up racial hatred.
31 year old Abdul Rahman Saleem (aka Abu Yahya) denied one count of using words likely to stir up racial hatred.
Javed, Rahman and Saleem were granted bail. The prosecution stated that when they return for trial, they should be tried separately, and these trials should last four days.
