Watching the BBC's coverage of the verdict in the trial of Umran Javed

at the end of last week there were many, many Beeboid references to 'the Prophet Mohammed', as if Mohammed was generally accepted as being a, or even the, prophet.
The BBC would, quite rightly, never refer to Jesus in their coverage as 'the Lord Jesus Christ', so I'm at a loss as to whether it's plain laziness or multiculti-zeal that permits such reverential treatment of Mohammed. Mercifully, Martha Kearney on Newsnight showed the rest of the BBC how it should be done, as shown in her introduction of the clip below from Friday's programme. Note how the correspondent, Andy Tighe, then lazily refers to Mohammed as 'the Prophet Mohammed'.

Martha Kearney correctly denotes Mohammed as 'the Islamic Prophet', rather than the usual lazy BBC acceptance of him as 'the Prophet'.

How ironic that you dare to use a quote from the great Sir Winston to support your racist claptrap. Sir Winston not only received many awards from Arab Royalty, recognising his achievements, but indeed here at Churchill College, Cambridge University, our biggest donations are from Arab royalty who wish to keep the true memory of Sir Winston alive, through his archives. Reading them would also show the fallacy of the nonsense you post in the rest of your blog.

I only wish you would do the same.

Winston Churchill on Islam
The River War | 1899 | Sir Winston Churchill

How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy.
The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.
A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.
Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it.
No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.
-- Sir Winston Churchill (The River War, first edition, Vol. II, pages 248-50 [London: Longmans, Green & Co., 1899]).

Vandals attack Churchill statue

A statue of Sir Winston Churchill has been attacked by vandals.
Red paint was streaked across the stone plinth on which the statue stands in Parliament Square, central London.

The Metropolitan Police said the incident, which was reported on Sunday afternoon, was being treated as criminal damage.

The statue was famously attacked during anti-capitalist demonstrations in 2000 when protesters put a turf "Mohican" on its head.

Worthing West Tory MP Peter Bottomley, who spotted the damage on his way to the Commons, said he was "disappointed" at the attack.

"I was surprised and upset. I am just glad they got the base and not the statue itself," he said.

He predicted there was enough CCTV in the area to have captured the incident to discover whether "it was political or just someone throwing red paint".

Sir Winston was named the greatest Briton of all time in a nationwide poll in 2002.

And what does the fascinating article "Vandals attack Churchill statue" have to do with this article? Are you suggesting that you know who did this, even though you weren't there and police don't know? And belying your racist undertones? I do hope so my old mucker.

P.S. How old was Sir Winston in 1899?
