A HATE-preaching pal of Omar Bakri was filmed at a British mosque urging Muslims to join al-Qaeda and kill non-believers, a jury heard yesterday.
Abdul Saleem allegedly told worshippers that they should be “proud” to be called terrorists.
He said of non-believers: “Let their blood run in the mountains of Afghanistan, let their women become widows, may their children become orphans,” the court heard.
Saleem, a supporter of Bakri’s group Al Muhajiroun, allegedly said al-Qaeda’s leader in Iraq found support in the Koran for beheading British hostage Ken Bigley.
Another Bakri follower, Abu Izzadeen, told Muslims it was their “obligation” to kill British troops in Iraq, it was claimed.
The extremists whipped the crowd into a frenzy, praising 9/11 and calling for jihad, the jury heard.
Prosecutors said: “The defendants said that among other things that Mohammed was the prophet of massacre.”
Mosque staff called cops but the officers had to retreat when an angry mob surrounded them chanting “scum, scum”.
Izzadeen, once known as Trevor Brooks and who famously heckled former Home Secretary John Reid as he met Muslims, is charged with Saleem and six others of inciting terrorism overseas and fund-raising.
They deny the charges — linked to speeches at London’s Regents Park mosque in November 2004.
The trial at Kingston Crown Court continues.
