Fanatics at age 8

CHILDREN as young as eight are being groomed by Muslim extremists to spread hate in schools, a report said .

Fanatics use the youngsters to hand out leaflets preaching violence to their classmates.
The alert was raised after teachers caught a pupil hailing the 7/7 London bombers as “martyrs” in a playground.

Other kids have had material inciting holy war or attacks on other ethnic communities. The dangerous propaganda circulating in class was revealed as ministers launched a £5million blitz on school gate extremism.

A dossier showed the problem had crept from universities into secondary and primary schools.
Schools Secretary Ed Balls unveiled new guidelines in response to growing calls from headteachers for support. He wants teachers to talk more openly in lessons about extremism so fanatics are challenged.

Every school must name a teacher to whom pupils can report worries about pupils or outsiders stirring up hate.

The launch came after Britain’s youngest terrorist was jailed for two years. Hammaad Munshi, 18, was 15 when recruited into a worldwide conspiracy to kill non-Muslims.
