Trafalgar Square hosts Eid event

Thousands of people are expected to attend an event in central London marking the end of the Muslim month of Ramadan.

The third annual Eid in the Square is a free event in Trafalgar Square on Saturday from 1255 BST.
Organised by the mayor and Muslim groups, the event features Asian music, food and goods, and displays on Islam.

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting observed by millions of Muslims across the world.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: "Unity and peace are key themes of Ramadan and Eid celebrations.

"This festival will bring together people from all parts of London and the world to enjoy the celebrations, whilst being reminded of universal human values such as compassion and charity."

Partners include Muslim Council of Britain, Transport for London, Muslim Aid and Islamic Relief.
