A man who raped a drunken 15-year-old girl on New Year’s Day after giving her a cannabis cigarette has been jailed for six years and three months.

Preston Crown Court heard the girl, described as vulnerable due to personal circumstances at the time, had gone with him because she thought he was trying to help her.
The court was told how the school girl had woken “aghast”, fearing she may have contracted a sexual disease or be pregnant.

Prosecuting, Claire Larton told the court Daghem had seen the girl drunk and distressed as he walked out of Chester’s takeaway on Moor Lane on January 1.
The victim had been at a New Year’s Eve party.
He tried to comfort her and offered to help her, taking her back to his then home on Plungington Road, Preston, – but he then attacked her.
Daghem, wearing a black cardigan and jeans, gave no reaction as he was jailed.

After the case DC Darren Caunce said: “ Daghem’s actions have affected the victim profoundly.”
