Kevin Crehan got a year in prison for leaving a bacon sandwich at a mosque, and then died in prison under circumstances that have never been explained by British officials.

But assault your daughter and drive her to attempt suicide because she is not adhering to Muslim mores? Get a a nine-month community order with up to 15 days of rehabilitation activities.

Why the leniency? The reason is obvious. The perpetrator is Muslim. If the circumstances were all the same except that this father was non-Muslim, he would doubtless have received a much harsher sentence. But the first and foremost priority for British authorities is not appearing “Islamophobic.”

A TEEENAGE girl drank bleach and was attacked by her Muslim father who accused her of becoming “too Westernised”.

The 17-year-old provoked her parent’s anger by wearing make-up and failing to ask permission before going to the gym.

Police were called to the family’s home in Dewsbury, West Yorks on October 1 by paramedics, Kirklees magistrates were told.

Prosecutor Vanessa Jones said: “An ambulance was already there following a report that a young lady had drunk some bleach following a domestic incident.

“They were met by the brother of the 17-year-old victim, went upstairs and found her in a distressed state.

“She was sat on the edge of the bed, gasping for breath and clutching her arms and stomach.”

The frightened girl told police that her father had grabbed her by the shoulder and neck.

He then pushed her, causing her to fall over and hit a wardrobe.

Jones added: “The complainant gave a statement and was visited by the (Kirklees Council) safeguarding team.

“She said she felt that her father didn’t like the fact that she was becoming too westernised and that there had been previous violence.”

The 49-year-old defendant, who can not be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to an offence of assault by beating….

Paul Blanchard, mitigating, said that his client had a “significant amount of frustration” with his daughter but accepted that he shouldn’t have acted how he did.
