“Magistrates sentenced him to a nine-month community order with up to 15 days of rehabilitation activities aimed at addressing his offending behaviour. He will have to pay £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge.”
That’s it?
Kevin Crehan got a year in prison for leaving a bacon sandwich at a mosque, and then died in prison under circumstances that have never been explained by British officials.
But assault your daughter and drive her to attempt suicide because she is not adhering to Muslim mores? Get a a nine-month community order with up to 15 days of rehabilitation activities.
Why the leniency? The reason is obvious. The perpetrator is Muslim. If the circumstances were all the same except that this father was non-Muslim, he would doubtless have received a much harsher sentence. But the first and foremost priority for British authorities is not appearing “Islamophobic.”
