England fans have been warned not to wear knight costumes at Euro 2016 in case they offend local people.
The BBC website questioned whether it was right for the fans following the Three Lions to wear the fancy dress outfits as crusaders had carried out “violent attacks across Europe and the Middle East on Muslims, Jews and pagans”.
The article claimed: "Clearly there is a spirit of conviviality but should there be a discomfort when sport is linked to conflict?"
But fans hit out at the article, insisting there is nothing wrong with being patriotic.
One commenter on Twitter wrote: "We have every right to show our England colours!! #StGeorge #England #foreverproud."
